Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam. He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years. He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country". The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

Autumn is linked to veterans through the observance of Veterans Day on November 11, a holiday that originated from the end of World War I in the autumn of 1918. The season also marks National Veterans and Military Families Month, a time for honoring veterans and their families for their sacrifices.
Veterans Day: This federal holiday is observed on November 11th to honor all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It began as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. It is officially observed the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. National Veterans and Military Families Month: In November, the U.S. officially recognizes veterans and their families for their sacrifices. This month is dedicated to appreciating the unique challenges faced by military families.
